Measure the area of the element you are insulating and divide by the coverage per pack or board. For cavity walls, remember to deduct openings. Add 5% for cuts and offcuts. The U-value target will dictate the thickness required.

Insulation boards and rolls are lightweight but bulky; they are delivered wrapped on pallets. Store them flat and dry, and avoid compressing boards because this reduces their thermal performance.
